1st Shift Diecast Supervisor-6a-2pm

This position is responsible for supervising the Die Cast department, managing setting up and troubleshooting various machines and operations, monitoring processes and results and prioritizing work under guidelines from management. This position coordinates the activities of production, Maintenance and Quality personnel to achieve optimal results.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
*Manages the setup of die cast machines, trim presses, melting and holding furnaces and robotic operations on die cast machines.
*Coordinates activities of production, maintenance and quality personnel to achieve optimal results, applying their knowledge of the die casting process and properties of molten metal.
*Supervises the operation of melting/ holding furnaces (including thermostat control) and trim presses.
*Troubleshoots issues for die cast machines and trim presses as well as any tooling related issues.
*Monitors the process development for die cast tooling and documents the results
*Solves operating and quality problems and prioritizes work under guidelines from management.
*Maintains production records.
*Assures production employees are adequately trained and the training is documented.
*Initiates changes in the timing of the casting cycle, lubrication of dies, and timing / spacing between dies to correct defects in castings.
*Trains new workers in job duties.
*A working supervisor position, requiring hands-on work and involvement.
*Examines materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.
*Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs, or directs workers to make adjustments or repairs.
*Maintains and updates all training logs, records, reports, and oral or written information received for the successful operation of the department.
*Monitors and maintains work schedules of dept. Employees, including breakdown assignments, premium pay designations and rotation schedules.
*Expects employees to be held to a high standard and strives for continual improvement in employee performance and machine performance.
*Assists the Production Superintendent on special projects when needed.
*Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
*Able to set up and operate die cast machines, trim presses, melting / holding furnaces and robotic controlled extractors, ladles, and sprayers
*Able to adjust parameters of the die cast machine process to improve quality and quantity
*Knowledge of die cast tooling and able to resolve tooling issues.
*Able to read and interpret specifications, blueprints and job related documentation
*Knowledge of remelt process and how to maintain remelt area.
*Able to work under pressure and utilize problem solving skills and build a team approach.
*Able to resolve multiple conflicting priorities to maximize plant quality and efficiency while maintaining a safe working environment.
*NADCA die cast training preferred.
*TS16949 training and experience preferred.
*ABB and Rim Rock robotics experience preferred.
*Background in Lean problem solving and/or Kaizen continuous improvement preferred.
*Must have a strong work ethic.
*Must be well organized and a self-starter.
*Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable and able to focus on task at hand.
*Possess strong time management skills.
*Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
*Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner.
*Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately.
Work & Education Requirements:
*High School Diploma or GED
*3 or more years experience as a Die Cast Supervisor
*6 or more years experience as a Die Cast operator
Hours: 6a-2p (OT as needed)
Wage:$19 per hr.
